Avocado Crema

This Avocado Crema combines avocado, sour cream, lime juice, jalapeños, and garlic together to create a creamy and light sauce. Top it on carne asada tacos, shrimp tacos, or enjoy it as a dipping sauce, or use it as a salad dressing!

Ingredients and Substitutions

  • Avocados – This ingredient is what gives a super buttery rich and smooth texture.
  • Cilantro – If you not a fan of cilantro, you could substitute parsley.
  • Sour cream – This adds a nice tang that will help cool down the heat in the jalapeños. You could also use greek yogurt or make it vegan by using a plain vegan yogurt.
  • Kosher salt – This will help bring out all of the flavors.
  • Lime juice – Use bottled or fresh. Add a bright pop of flavor from the citrus.
  • Garlic – I believe you can never have enough garlic. Fresh is best, but feel free to use garlic powder if that’s all you have.

  1. If using a food processor just add all the ingredients. If using a mixing bowl; be sure to chop your cilantro and garlic finely before adding them to the bowl.

     

  2. Blend in the food processor until smooth, OR mash everything until a smooth consistency.

  3. Season more to taste.
